Helping Conectiv Expand it's Online
Training
The Need
Conectiv provides regulated electric service
to more than 1 million homes and businesses
in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Virginia, and provides regulated natural gas service
to approximately 100,000 customers in northern
Delaware . Conectiv's training department wanted to benefit from the unique
advantages of online learning. Up to this point, Conectiv's programs were 100%
instructor-led. The cost to design courses and deliver training was becoming
more difficult with over 4,000 employees in four states. Conectiv was interested
in implementing an eLearning plan that blended instructor lead training with
online learning.
The Solution
Brookwood assisted Conectiv in developing
and adopting a plan to incorporate technology
into their employee training process. With
over 15 years experience in producing interactive
learning systems, Brookwood's custom, user-engaging
training applications were needed to advance the overall business objectives
of Conectiv. Brookwood created a documented learning strategy to inform trainers,
managers, and executives on how we would proceed. The consulting process included
defining and refining requirements, preparing RFPs, reviewing pricing models,
facilitation of vendor demonstrations, and recommending final selections.
One of Conectiv's goals was to incorporate
self sufficiency into the eLearning format.
They wished to build, train, and develop an
in-house team to execute the blended learning
approach . Brookwood made
recommendations about how the internal eLearning
team should be constructed and interviewed
potential course developers. In order to make
their job easier and for consistency, we created
course templates with AICC and SCORM coding
that easily integrate with their LMS.
The Key Advantages
- Conectiv now develops high
quality courses on their own
- They continue to use the eLearning
strategy Brookwood created
- Implementing more efficient
and effective training has saved resources
