Corporate Training Case Study: World-Class
Training to Support the Future
The Need
AUTHOR INTERACTIVE LEARNING
IN-HOUSE
Wyeth (NYSE: WYE) is dedicated to solving
the world's most critical health problems through
research and development, spending approximately
$1.9 billion in overall R&D in 2001. With
annual sales of $14.1 billion in 2001 and products
sold in more than 140 countries, Wyeth is truly
a global health care leader.
Wyeth Research purchased Macromedia Authorware
for the training staff of the Research Division.
Macromedia Authorware provides a visual environment
that allows authors the ability to build highly
interactive applications with no programming
skill. Authorware is an extremely robust authoring
tool with hundreds of functions and variables,
under the hood, for Learning Management System
integration and requires no programming to
build highly interactive simulation-based learning
objects.
Michael Gregor, Manager, Clinical Applications
Training, selected Authorware because "its
object orientation rather than programming.
One can quickly develop programs for the Web
and CD-ROM. The goal is to be able to quickly
develop business related training programs,
e.g., SOP training. Authorware allows for interactions
and assessments. It is a robust program...
allowing us to be creative yet adhering to
standards within the corporate world."
The Solution
Brookwood Media Arts provided an on-site training
solution that incorporated "best practices" for
instructional design and building "useful" interactions
for higher retention rates. Jacqueline Beck,
VP of E-Learning for Brookwood states, "our
trainers are also the developers that work
on projects for many Fortune 500 companies.
We bring this experience into the classroom
and provide work-labs focused on 'best
practices' from our vast experience in
the industry. We also provide support after
the class, via e-mail, to continually maintain
our relationships with our clients."
"For many clients, like Wyeth, we return
to the facility to provide coaching and mentoring
with in-house developers so they are continually
learning new skills to enhance development
and go even further with projects. This close
relationship of trainer/coach/mentor/support
team makes our training far above what other
centers can offer. We also provide a CD-ROM
with animated screen movies, covering the lessons
taught in class, to support our students in
the field. No other training center offers
a more-complete solution to empower your staff
with training and support for development."
BUILDING PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE LONG
HAUL
Michael Gregor chose Brookwood as the training
partner. Gregor states, "Brookwood is
very professional, experienced, responsive,
and provided the training-support needed to
make our project launch a success. It's a partnership
that I look forward to continuing in the future
to ensure our success in e-learning."
